Payroll

Paid on time. Remitted on time. Every cycle, without a reminder.

Payroll is the one area where being late is not just expensive, it is personal. Directors can be held personally liable for unremitted source deductions under the Income Tax Act. We treat it accordingly.

What is included

Everything in scope, listed plainly.

Included in your fixed monthly fee. If something falls outside it, we tell you before the work starts, not after.

Pay run processing

Weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly or monthly. Gross-to-net, overtime, commission, bonuses, vacation pay, statutory holiday pay and termination pay under your province’s employment standards.

Source deductions

CPP or QPP, EI and income tax withheld correctly and remitted to the CRA on your PD7A schedule, whether you are a quarterly, regular or accelerated remitter.

Employer obligations

Employer health tax in Ontario, BC, Manitoba and Newfoundland and Labrador, WSIB, WorkSafeBC and WCB premiums, and Quebec’s Health Services Fund and CNESST.

Year-end slips

T4 slips and the T4 Summary filed by the end of February, with the PIER reconciliation done first so the CRA does not send a deficiency assessment later. RL-1 slips for Quebec employees.

Records of Employment

ROEs filed through ROE Web when an employee has an interruption of earnings, so their EI claim is not held up by paperwork.

Contractor payments

T4A and T5018 reporting, with worker status reviewed before it turns into a CPP and EI ruling against you.

Questions

Common questions.

Anything not covered here, ask on the call. There is no charge for questions.

Which payroll platforms do you run?
Wagepoint, ADP Canada, Ceridian Dayforce, QuickBooks Payroll and Rise. If you already have one, we work in it.
Can you take over an existing payroll mid-year?
Yes. We reconcile year-to-date CPP, EI and tax figures before the first run so T4s balance correctly, which is the step most mid-year transitions get wrong.
What happens if a remittance is missed?
It does not get missed. Remittances sit on the same monitored calendar as filings, with internal dates ahead of the CRA’s. If an error is ever ours, we fix it and cover the penalty.
